Description of the team's objectives and methodology
An approach to development that is centred around the poeple of Koliwada was attempted. The study was to bring about a development with which they can approach the authorities OR understand whether a development retaining their sense of community was possible. This attempt is primarily a skeleton and hence 'interventions' have intentionally been left out.
Via meeting with various people information regarding their ownership was gathered. The understanding developed around the lines of a small sectoral development. Families within the sector would come together and develop their area.
The major stand taken to reduce the footprint, was to give equivalent built-space rather than land area. Hence plot spaces would evlove specific to these sectors and each would have its independent character. All such sectoral development would eventually be very spefically grounded lending to the character of the place.
Schema : A community space for women and children (fully pedestrian) in the centre with houses around it. The houses open out onto the street and the community space at the back.
